There will come a time when I share my full story.
THIS IS MY STORY — FOR NOW
Right now, because there is ongoing legal litigation connected to my personal experience, I am not willing to speak publicly about the details. When the legal process is complete, I do intend to share my story honestly and openly.
For now, I want to share something just as important — why Healing Starts With Leaving exists.
Like many survivors, I did not recognize what I was experiencing while I was living through it. I did not have the language for it. I did not understand patterns like trauma bonding, gaslighting, coercive control, intermittent reinforcement, or emotional abuse.
What I felt most of the time was confusion.
I kept trying to understand why something that once felt loving had become something that felt so destabilizing and painful. I questioned myself more than I questioned what was happening around me. I believed that if I just tried harder, loved better, or understood more, things would eventually make sense again.
But eventually I began learning.
I began reading about abuse dynamics and manipulation patterns. I began hearing other survivors describe experiences that sounded painfully familiar. For the first time, I started to see that what I had been experiencing had names and patterns that many others had lived through as well.
That knowledge changed everything.
When you finally have language for something, it becomes much harder to deny it. The confusion begins to clear, and you start to see the situation for what it truly is. That clarity does not make leaving easy, but it does make healing possible.
That is where the idea for Healing Starts With Leaving began.
I realized that so many people stay stuck in unhealthy or abusive relationships simply because they do not yet have the language to understand what they are experiencing. Without that language, it is easy to minimize things, excuse behavior, or blame yourself.
Education is powerful.
Once we understand the patterns, we begin to recognize them. Once we recognize them, we can begin to separate ourselves from them. And once we begin that process, healing can start.
This space was created to share that knowledge.
Healing Starts With Leaving exists to provide resources, education, and support for women who may be navigating confusing or painful relationship dynamics. It is also a place where survivors can share their stories in a way that helps others feel less alone.
Many people first recognize their own situation when they hear someone else describe something similar.
Stories create awareness. Awareness creates clarity. And clarity often becomes the first step toward freedom.
Although I cannot share my full story yet, this work is deeply personal to me. The journey that led to the creation of this platform changed my life, and it showed me just how important it is for survivors to have access to information, community, and understanding.
My story will come in time.
Until then, my focus is on creating a space where education, compassion, and survivor voices can help others recognize patterns sooner, feel less isolated, and begin their own healing journey.
If you are reading this and something here feels familiar, please know this:
You are not alone.
And healing truly can begin the moment you start to see things clearly.
